Trent Alexander-Arnold makes 'frightening' Liverpool admission and hopes to avoid Chelsea 'regret'

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold hopes there won't be any regrets after failure to break down Chelsea.

Trent Alexander-Arnold hopes Liverpool don't live to regret their "disappointing" lack of creativity having failed to overcome Chelsea's spoiling tactics.

The Reds were unable to break down a stubborn rearguard action from the 10-man visitors during the 1-1 Premier League draw at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Chelsea had Reece James sent off for deliberate handball shortly before half-time, but Mohamed Salah's subsequently penalty - which equalised a Kai Havertz header - was the only time the away defence was breached.

And Alexander Arnold admits Liverpool should have taken more from their first clash this season against an expected title rival.

"In the second half it was frustrating to see them going down and wasting time, but it's what you expect from any team with 10 men," he said.

At Anfield, playing half the game with 10 men, no matter who you are playing against it's disappointing to come away with only a point.

We needed to create a few more chances out there and with the possession we had, we could have killed the game off. It's disappointing, to be honest.

"The atmosphere at times was frightening, deafening really. But it works hand in hand - we needed to perform better to make it more lively for the fans.

"We have to learn from what we could have done better and try to improve.

"The rhythm will come, but the quality the Premier League has and the way teams have strengthened this season, these could be games we need to win and could regret.

But we have to look forward and hit the ground running after the internationals as we need to pick up points again."

Despite failing to win, Liverpool extended their unbeaten Premier League run to 13 games and improved on last season's 1-0 defeat in the same fixture.

Ten different Reds players attempted a shot on goal while the visitors managed just three on target.

And speaking to LFC TV, Alexander-Arnold added: "There are a few positives to take out of it. We stopped them from doing what they wanted to do and when it was 11 v 11 in the first half they didn't create too many chances.
