West Ham set sights on £15m speedster who wowed Guardiola in 2018 - report

West Ham United have reportedly set their sights on Maxwel Cornet this transfer window.

According to 90Minthe Hammers are thinking of making a late swoop for the Lyon full-back.

However, West Ham aren’t the only club reportedly interested in Cornet.

As well as the Hammers, Premier League rivals Newcastle have apparently joined the race too.

Meanwhile, Burnley have reportedly made a £15million bid for Cornet.

West Ham have hit the ground running in the Premier League this season, with two wins from two.

Indeed, David Moyes’ charges have scored eight goals in their opening encounters.

However, with the Europa League on the horizon, West Ham could do with building up strength in depth this transfer window.

West Ham eyeing player who “impressed” Guardiola?

Cornet is an exciting player who was reportedly on the radar of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola back in 2018.

I was very impressed by the talent of Maxwel Cornet,” Guardiola said after the player scored a brace in a 2-2 draw in November 2018.

However, Cornet’s place in the Lyon team is now under threat.

The French outfit signed Euro 2020 winner Emerson Palmieri on loan from Chelsea last week.
