Aston Villa look set to come up against Romelu Lukaku at Stamford Bridge on Saturday after Chelsea’s £97million striker was declared fit by manager Thomas Tuchel.
The Belgium ace had been doubt for the game amid thigh issue picked up on international duty. But Tuchel has confirmed Lukaku will be fit to face Villa in the 5.30pm kick-off.
"Maybe he had some problems but he came back two days ago, yesterday he trained with us, today he trained fully, no problems at all,” said the Blues boss, who will be without key midfielder N'Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic.
It remains to be seen if defender Thiago Silva will be available after Brazilian football authorities invoked their right through FIFA to initiate a five-day ban for players who did not join up with their countries for the recent round of World Cup qualifiers.
But the news on Lukaku has buoyed fans of the European champions, with some taking to social media to predict a comfortable victory over Dean Smith’s side.
