Four Chelsea players left out by Tuchel at risk of four months without first-team football

Four Chelsea players are still facing uncertainty over their future at Stamford Bridge after being left out without squad numbers and failing to secure moves away from Stamford Bridge.

Malang Sarr, Ross Barkley, Lewis Baker, and Charly Musonda Jr are now at risk of not playing first-team football until the next transfer window in January.

Since they are not registered in Chelsea’s 25-man Premier League squad, it is safe to say that they are not in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for 2021/22.

Having failed to secure a move before the transfer window deadline for most major European leagues last Tuesday, the options are now very limited.

Sarr, for example, was very close to joining Bundesliga club Greuther Furth, but the proposed loan move collapsed on deadline day despite his effort by travelling to Germany, according to Goal.

The report also mentioned that Burnley had shown loan interest in Barkley, before eventually deciding that the move was too expensive.

Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater were in the same boat but managed to seal loan moves to AC Milan and Reading, respectively.
