Timo Werner reacts to Germany’s 2-0 victory over Liechtenstein

The goal scorer knows Germany has much more to offer offensively.

Germany’s Timo Werner had to feel like the weight of the world was off of his shoulders against Liechtenstein.

Maligned by the media and targeted by fans of both his country and country try, Werner has not had the easiest time since moving to Chelsea FC back in the summer of 2020.

Still, when Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala fed him a perfect pass, Werner deftly nutmegged Liechtenstein goalkeeper Benjamin Buchel to give the Germans a 1-0 first half lead.

The goal came after 41 minutes of intense pressure from Die Mannschaft against 11 deep-sitting Liechtenstein players, who made for a formidable wall.

The Germans were frustrated and know they have a lot more to offer offensively than they were able to show against the fleet of buses that Liechtenstein parked in their own end.

“It was tough. But we definitely have to score a few more goals. In the end, Liechtenstein cleared every ball off the line. We’re starting to learn what the new coach is asking of us,” said Werner to RTL (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia).

In the end, Werner’s goal is the exact type of confidence builder that both he and Germany needed.
