Jorginho, a midfielder for Chelsea and an international for Italy, has claimed that Thomas Tuchel's firing last week was due to the actions of his teammates.
Last Wednesday, a day after the Blues' 1-0 Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb, Tuchel was fired.
Graham Potter, a former Brighton manager, has taken over as Tuchel's manager at Chelsea, but Jorginho has now stated that the team was startled by the dismissal of Tuchel.
But he also said that the squad shared some of the guilt.
We are a team, so of course [the players are also accountable]. There is more than one individual accountable for what took place. Since we were the entire team on the field, we must be held accountable for what occurred. We made an effort to do what we could and improve on what could go better. Unfortunately, it wasn’t working. The challenge now is to rebuild confidence,” Jorginho told a news conference on Tuesday ahead of their Champions League game against FC Salzburg.
